Conway: The City of Colleges

Conway is the county seat of Faulkner County, Arkansas. It is a principal city of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway metropolitan area and the seventh most populous city in the state. Conway is home to three post-secondary educational institutions (Central Baptist College, Hendrix College, and the University of Central Arkansas), which has earned it the name “The City of Colleges.” The city hosts many cultural activities. The Conway Symphony Orchestra performs many times throughout the year, The Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, the state’s only professional Shakespeare company, holds an annual Summer festival in June, and the Conway Community Arts Association has been presenting theatre and other art opportunities to the community for over forty years. Other notable events include Toad Suck Daze, a festival featuring live music, food, craft vendors, and amusement rides, and EcoFest, which includes exhibits and events relating to sustainable environmental initiatives. For outdoor enthusiasts, Conway houses seventeen parks and two sports centers that feature playgrounds, picnic areas, and athletic fields.
